Try our Who Am I? Authenticity meditation

Unlock who you truly are with this guided reflection meditation session that will give you the space to question and affirm your authentic self.

How often do you take the time to stop, look and question what you’re doing, how you’re doing it, how you feel and what you’re thinking? Many of us are running on autopilot and that’s where the power of meditation comes in.

“Guided meditation is the perfect way to step back from our hectic day-to-day lives and connect with ourselves again,” says bestselling author and psychologist Kelly. “More specifically, to connect with our authentic selves. Meditation is the exact opposite of autopilot mode. It requires you to be consciously aware of what you’re doing; being present in both mind and body. Only when we are aware, we can change. If we don’t cut through the noise of our lives and focus on what really matters, how can we live a life that aligns with exactly that? If you want to stay true to yourself, meditation is the perfect tool to carve out the headspace to do so.”

This powerful reflection meditation by Deborah Quibell gives you the time and headspace to question yourself and your everyday actions as well as explore new ideas that may be more aligned with who you are. And don’t worry if you don’t have all the answers straight away.

“When you ask yourself what do I really want? that question can be very overwhelming. It’s normal to not know the answer. But you can also ask yourself, what can I do today to stay close to myself? Step by step. It's a lot easier to make a small change in the desired direction each time. And the beautiful thing is: if you make choices every day in all the little micro-moments that are in line with your norms, values, wishes and more, you will automatically create a life that really suits you.

“Imagine what would happen if every day you think, how can I help myself today, what do I need? and you give yourself that. Maybe you'll take your rest today instead of going to that party. Maybe you'll cook a healthy meal for yourself, instead of getting a takeaway. Maybe you'll start your day with journaling, instead of scrolling carelessly on your phone for half an hour. Maybe in the evening you’ll put your phone away altogether and grab a book.

“Now imagine asking yourself that question for a month, how can I help myself today, what do I need? and giving yourself exactly that. Do that for three months, six months, or even a year. Where do you stand then? Day-to-day you may not notice much difference, but the difference in a year from now will be huge. You will truly feel your most authentic self because you made all these minor daily changes.”

So, let’s get started. To set the scene for your meditation why not dim the lights, create a cosy spot to focus and scent the room with a relaxing candle such as The Ritual of Jing Scented Candle and be prepared to get to know yourself better.
