Perfume Genie

My Perfume Genie doesn’t work anymore. What should I do?

If you have a problem with your Perfume Genie, it might just take something really simple to get your Perfume Genie to work again. Try these steps:

Check the cartridge:
When installing the cartridge make sure to position it with the black base down and fit it in the groove. There is a white sticker on the base of the cartridge, please make sure this is intact as this is the chip that the Genie 'reads' for information. Do not remove the sticker.
  • Your cartridge is full, but you are still being alerted in the app that the cartridge is empty? This could be due to a faulty chip on the cartridge. Luckily, your Genie will continue working perfectly according to the set schedule.
  • Is your cartridge empty? That's why your Genie isn't working. You can replace the cartridge with a new one. Rituals cartridges are the only compatible cartridges.

Check the WiFi connection:
Ensure the Wi-Fi signal is sufficient. You can check the strength of the Wi-Fi connection on the homepage of the app on the middle-left side. If it does not work, briefly press the Reset button underneath the Genie.
If there was a change in your Wi-Fi settings (password change or new network), you will need to disconnect and reset your Perfume Genie before connecting it again. Complete the following steps:
  • To disconnect the Perfume Genie, open the Genie app. Click on the Settings icon at the bottom right, then select the Genie on the top. Scroll down and select “device information,” scroll down again, and select ‘Remove Genie’.
  • Then reset the Genie in one of the following ways:
    • Perfume Genie 1.0: Press and hold the Factory Reset button for 2 seconds.
    • Perfume Genie 2.0: Press the Connect button on the bottom of the Perfume Genie for at least 12 seconds. When the LED light turns red, let go of the button and the light will turn blue.
  • Your Perfume Genie is now ready to be connected again through the Genie App. Go through the onboarding flow in the app.

Check placement of the Perfume Genie and/or cartridge:
Place the Perfume Genie on a level surface. Only use the genie indoors and a normal temperature. For the best experience, place the Perfume Genie in a central place in your home, about 1.5 meters above the floor and away from draughts. Avoid moving the Perfume Genie, as much as possible, when a cartridge is installed.
