COOKIE POLICY
This website and the Rituals app (each a “platform”) are owned and managed by Rituals Cosmetics Enterprise B.V. (hereinafter referred to as: "Rituals", "we", or, "us"). Our platforms use cookies or similar technologies, such as pixels, SDK’s and JavaScript (hereinafter collectively referred to as: “cookies”). This Cookie Policy (“Policy”) describes what cookies are, which cookies we use, the purposes for which we use them, the partners with whom we work with, and how you can adjust and manage your cookie preferences.
WHAT ARE COOKIES?
Cookies. Cookies are small text files with a unique identifier that are placed on the browser of your computer or mobile device through the website you are visiting or app you are using. For example, we use first and third-party cookies , among other things, to make website/app functions more efficient, to understand how users access and use our platform, to secure and protect our platform, or to ensure that the products you add to your shopping cart remain in the shopping cart. You can read about the different types of cookies and the various purposes for which we use cookies below.
Pixels. A pixel is a transparent GIF image that is added to a webpage. The pixels are invisible. Pixels and SDKs are used, for example, to measure whether a user has seen a webpage or an email. They enable websites and apps to function more efficiently and enhance user-friendliness. Alternative names for pixels include: web beacons, tracking bugs, clear GIFs, pixel tags, SDK’s and 1x1 GIFs.
JavaScript. JavaScript is a scripting language that is widely used to make web pages interactive and to develop web applications. The script is sent back to the web browser by means of HTML and is executed in the browser.
WHAT TYPE OF COOKIES DOES RITUALS USE?
We use both first-party and third-party cookies on our platform. Whether a cookie is ‘first’ or ‘third’ party refers to the domain placing the cookie. First-party cookies are those set by a website that is being visited by the user at the time (e.g., cookies placed by www.rituals.com). Third-party cookies are cookies that are set by a domain other than that of the website being visited by the user. If a user visits a website and another entity sets a cookie through that website, this would be a third-party cookie.
Persistent Cookies. These cookies remain on a user’s device for the period of time specified in the cookie. They are activated each time that the user visits the website that created that particular cookie.
Session Cookies. These cookies allow website operators to link the actions of a user during a browser session. A browser session starts when a user opens the browser window and finishes when they close the browser window. Session cookies are created temporarily. Once you close the browser, all session cookies are deleted.
We use strictly necessary cookies, functional cookies, performance cookies and marketing cookies. You can see the precise cookie categories and cookies implemented on our platform by viewing our cookie list.
