An effective yoga flow to release your hips and lower back

If you experience lower back pain, tight hips could be the cause of it and this yoga flow for your hips and lower back could bring you the relief you're looking for. Prolonged sitting and activities like jogging and cycling can lead to tight hip flexors and muscle imbalances that contribute to lower back pain. The age-old practice of yoga can help relieve hip pain, because it can help strengthen and stretch muscles that are important in supporting aching joints. Join me on the mat for this 26-minute flow, to release your hips and protect your lower back.

Since we’re all heading back to the offices more often, it’s likely that you will sit down most of the time. Sitting for prolonged periods of time is particularly damaging, as it shortens and tightens the hip flexors, hamstrings, and calves while weakening our abdominals, back muscles, outer hips, and glutes. Over time, the effect of this muscular imbalance leads to an anterior pelvic tilt – meaning lower back and hip pain. This flow I created will help strengthen all the right muscles to fix pain at the source.

Hop into something comfy, since we will spend a lot of time on our backs. And if you have them, please prepare yourself by placing yoga blocks close to your mat. Tip: a couple of books will do the trick as well! I encourage you to incorporate this yoga flow into your daily routine, since it is beneficial in combatting lower back pain. It doesn’t matter if you practice with me before you’re heading to work, or if you’re winding down during your evening routine. Let’s just simply start and enjoy the relief together.
